Every dollar helps individuals in need to
Mission: Everest Base Camp
Dr. Sobti’s love for his work as an ophthalmologist is only paralleled by his love for travel and mountain climbing. In 2017, he climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro to help raise awareness for the Himalayan Cataract Project. On that trip, he and his team raised over $20,000 toward the cause.
Inspired by his most recent project, Everest Surgery Center in Midlothian, Texas, this year, Dr. Sobti will be taking the month of October to ascend to a new height: Mount Everest. Due to the danger, cost, and time involved in summitting Mount Everest, Dr. Sobti has elected to limit his climb to the Base Camp, reaching an elevation of 17,598 feet. His goal is to raise continued awareness for patients currently unable to afford cataract surgery by accomplishing this incredible climb.
“I think it would be amazing if we could raise one dollar for every foot that I climb on this trip! I hope that this climb inspires other individuals to live with boldness and look for the good that’s already all around them.”
– D. Sobti, MD
